The expression of p16 was abnormal in cervical cancer with HPV infection, and its expression was positively correlated with the severity of cervical cancer. In HPV infection related lesions, the E7 protein of the virus interferes with the Rb pathway, leading to the diffuse and consistent expression of p16.
